The smaller the space the more challenging it is to find a furniture and accessory arrangement that is functional and eye appealing at the same time. These are tough issues for those living in small spaces, apartments, dorm rooms or condos. If you live in a small space long enough, you’ll undoubted acquire more things which need to be stored somewhere.

Here are some tips for storage solutions that can help you out if you live in an apartment, dorm, condo or other type of small space.
When you are cramped for space, you need to make use of every inch of space, both horizontally and vertically. Ideally, putting in some floor to ceiling shelf units would solve a lot of storage problems, but that might not be workable in your budget. But there are many things you can do to create storage space, yet keep the room decorative. One solution is to buy or make decorative boxes in all shapes and sizes. They are colorful, creative and inexpensive and they can hide all the functional things you need access to that are not visually appealing.

Consider purchasing some stackable tables. You can condense them to the size of the largest table when not in use. But when you need an extra table, just pull one out and use it then put it back. These are a great, functional addition to any small space.

You can also add stackable etageres. Go up the wall. Break them apart. They are very flexible and give you lots of inexpensive ways to increase your storage. They are decorative and come in lot of different styles and colors. These are just some of the secrets interior designers use when tackling a small space, an apartment or condo, a dorm room or any other small room.

As for furniture arranging and accessory display, these are two of the more complicated aspects of interior design. They are more complex due to the space configuration of rooms (particularly small spaces), the necessary traffic patterns, the way the room is used, the colors, the sizes and types of furniture, the architectural elements that may or may not be present. And these are just a few of the things one needs to take into account. These are the secrets, tips and tricks interior designers, decorators and consultants use over and over again to create those spectacular rooms you’ve seen in decorating books and magazines.

Choosing the right color for your interior is quite a challenge. There are so many colors you like, but eventually you only need a couple off colors for your interior painting idea.
Before you finalized and choose the color scheme, you have to complete the whole interior painting idea first. Wallpaper, fabrics and accessories has to be finalized before the color scheme.
Take all the fabric, carpet, tile, wall paper sample etc when you go shopping for easy reference.
Look all the colors carefully, and always revert back to the big picture of your interior painting idea. Choose the colors if those colors are still in the direction you’re headed.
Consider which paint finish might be best for your interior painting idea. Matte or flat finishes hide wall imperfections, but glossier finishes will reflect more light.
There are warm color (orange, red, pink, etc) and cool color (blues, greens, violet, etc). This type of color can help you to select the right tone for your interior painting idea
It is always good to make a note behind the color cards, the name of the store where you picked it up. Sometimes you find the perfect color, but you can’t remember where you got the sample.
Check the paint sample under natural light to make sure this is the right color for your interior painting idea. But the best is, take it to the room where you will use it along with the fabrics and the accessories.
Light colors are usually most pleasing for a ceiling, because ceilings are seen in shadow. If you’d like the ceiling to match the wall color, buy ceiling paint one or two shades lighter than the wall color (on its color chip). Or, dilute your wall color with white paint in a ratio of 25% color to 75% white.
You might need a few days to getting used to your new room color that came from your interior painting idea. Sometimes, new color can look out of place in an empty room. Put some furniture, fabric and finalized with your accessories. You will surprised to see your new room color harmonizes with other room elements

Besides helping you to perform your job done easily, interior lighting in your home can also set up your mood. Different lighting design can create cozy feeling, dramatic look, highlight the artwork etc. You can start to consider what kind of activities & the mood you want to achieve before you plan the lighting design for your home interiors.
I have some example for the type of exterior and interior lighting that might be able to help you create your lighting design idea, for instance, the chandeliers. Chandeliers provide a focal point in the décor of your living room area and are functional as well.
Another type of interior lighting is vanity lighting. You have to be careful when placing the vanity lighting. Lighting above the mirror should be centered over the sink to prevent shadowing on your face. When mounting fixtures on either side of the mirror, mount them no further than 30 inches apart to avoid shadows and approximately 65-70 inches above the floor.
Outdoor lighting is able to enhance the character of your home. It also can help to create safety and security. Choose the correct size fixture for the scale of your home by visualizing how the fixture will appear from the street. If the fixture size is too small, the presence of your home will reduce. Choosing the right type of lighting fixture for your interior lighting is also important. For example, if you want a cozy feeling inside your bedroom, I suggest you to use the indirect lighting on your ceiling.

The word interior decorating always comes to my mind when I entered someone’s living room. It reflects the owner’s personality whether they are a formal or an easy going person.
Generally, there’s two type of living room. For some people, living room is only used when there’s a guest visit their home. And others also use it as a place for comfortable family gathering.
Historically, interior decorating for a living room is often symmetrical. A big sofa with painting above it and two end tables with lamps, classic drapery for windows treatment, pairs of chairs and tables follow the traditional rules of interior decorating.
These days, interior decorating style has evolved to a less formal look. It has a comfort furniture and simple windows treatment. There’s fewer traditional interior decorating rules and it became more colorful. It can use as a place to watch TV and sometimes for a casual eating place as well.
Eventually, whatever your interior decorating style is, whether it’s a formal or casual living room, all the furniture, colors, drapery and all that, should reflect your taste and something you love.

Try to re-layout your new house but don’t have any idea what to do? I have some tips that might be able help you to redo your home interiors.

First step, I will suggest you to create a focal point in your living room. For instance, you can place a Javanese cabinet and accessories the shelves with your family photos, books, candles or everything you love in it. This will attract your new neighbor’s attention and open up a small conversation about your home interiors with you from there J

When your new house has not so big rooms but you want to give spacious feeling in your home interiors, I suggest you to paint the ceiling with bright color. But, if one of your rooms is too big and you want to downsize it, give some accent by mounting a faux beam to the ceiling.

Look for other stable pieces of furniture for your home interiors and place it in front of your sofa other than the standard coffee table. Try ottomans, a large chest, a chess set on a display or stack old suitcases on top of each other to create an instant lamp table or a small coffee table.

You want to have in expensive curtain rod for your home interiors? Try to use odd things for rods. For example: golf clubs, broom stick or anything that can support your curtain.

Look for unusual items to collected together and mount in a shadow box. It can become a very good conversation piece.  Just use 3-5 items for that really custom and surprising decor.

Hopefully, these tips can instantly useful for your new home interiors. Have fun! J

Sometimes, it is hard for us to create a good design for our home interior, or even worse, we even don’t know where to start. I have some simple tips that might be able to help you.
There’s so many way to get your own interior design ideas. I usually visit the furniture stores that feature whole room displays and get the inspiration from there. I went to a book store as well and bought some books to inspire my interior design ideas.
Short while after I get the interior design ideas, I started to sketch the scaled plan on millimeter paper. In the process, I love to discuss the idea with my wife get her idea too. After all, I’m not the only one who live in the house 
After we finish the plan, we start to find a color scheme for our interior design ideas. We pick a primary color first for the ceiling, wall and floor. After that, we choose the complementary colors for our furniture and then tertiary colors for our drapery and accessories. You can go to a bookstore and find color guidebooks of how to blend colors. Use these examples as shown or as inspiration for your interior design ideas.
In some room, for example your living room, it is important to plan a focal point in your interior design ideas. Focal point is the area that demands attention as soon as someone enters a room. The focal point may be something you add, like a stunning piece of artwork from which you took color inspiration or a rug in an interesting shape. It may also be a feature of the room, such as a fireplace or a wall of windows overlooking a garden, or you can highlighting your collection in one area to creates visual interest in a room and speaks of your personality and interests.
After you finish with your interior design ideas planning, it’s time for you and your loved one to practice. Don’t be afraid for mistakes. Remember, bad color choice can always be repainted, furniture is easily rearranged and windows are fine with curtains, shades or nothing at all. What matters most is that you have fun making your home welcoming and comfortable. 
